Nettoyage annuel des conduites principales deau
In order to maintain quality drinking water, the Town of Shediac wishes to advise residents that the flushing of water mains will begin this coming Monday, April 27 and will carry into May. There is a possibility that some water discolouration may be experienced during the flushing operation; however, this should clear up within a few hours. If discolouration should occur, it is recommended to let the cold water run for a few minutes until it turns clear. You can then resume normal water use. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Information: 532-7000

Why do we flush water mains?

Since water mains are sized to allow adequate and safe flows for fire protection, water typically moves through the underground pipes at less than 1 km/hr. This slow movement allows mineral deposits to accumulate in pipes over time. The build-up can restrict water flow in the pipes and contributes to corrosion and water colour problems. Periodic flushing removes the mineral deposits and is critical to maintaining water quality in the water system.
On Thursday, February 13, the Greater Shediac Chamber of Commerce held a Business After Hours session during which the Mayor of Shediac, Roger Caissie, delivered his State of the Town Address to a packed house at the Shediac Multipurpose Centre. The topics covered were: finances, environment, tourism and economic development.
