The Town of Shediac wants to preserve its heritage and highlight the contribution of its builders. Visit our heritage sites and buildings while discovering our history.

Old Train Station

On July 1st, the building was converted into a museum and officially opened its doors to the public.

You are invited to visit Shediac’s Old Train Station to learn about the area’s railroad and transportation history. Various artefacts and photos showing technological advancements as well as other significant moments in Shediac’s railway system are on exhibit at the museum.

Not only will you find several items that were used in the train station, but you will also find items that are associated with the train. The inside of the building was also restored to recapture the essence of its original state.

Over 4,000 visitors came through our doors in 2017.

Built in 1825, the ancestral home of Pascal Poirier, the first Acadian appointed to the Senate, is the oldest house in Shediac. The house includes a museum, a sculpture that tells the story of the Acadian people, a collection of artworks depicting life as it once was in Shediac, as well as artisans demonstrating their trades.
