Shediac – The Lobster Festival, a hallmark of the Town of Shediac’s tourist season, was named Event of the Year (budget over $500,000) at the Event Atlantic annual summit, held in Shediac from September 8 to 11, 2026.
For more than 75 years, the Lobster Festival has made a significant contribution to Shediac’s identity, economic vitality, and tourism appeal, attracting thousands of visitors and showcasing the expertise, culture, and hospitality of the southeastern New Brunswick community.
“The Lobster Festival is a true mainstay of Shediac’s summer season. It generates significant economic benefits for local businesses while reinforcing Shediac’s position as a must-visit tourist destination in Atlantic Canada,” said Mayor Patricia Bourque-Chevarie. “This recognition is well deserved and reflects the exceptional work accomplished by the Festival’s organizers over the years.”
Beyond its tourism and economic benefits, the Lobster Festival is also a powerful driver of community engagement. Each year, it brings together hundreds of volunteers, organizations, businesses, and residents. Year after year, the shared goal remains to put on an event we can all be proud of—one that puts Shediac on the map.
