Breaux Bridge Street Phase 2 – Bellevue Street at Ohio Road
A new section of Breaux Bridge Street, extending from the Bellevue Street roundabout to Ohio Road, also including Bonnaventure Street. The work, scheduled for 2026, will include the completion of sanitary and storm sewer systems, the installation of drinking water mains, the construction of sidewalks, paving, and landscaping. This new section of Breaux Bridge Street will also feature a new paved path, improving mobility and safety for users.

Good news for residents and visitors of Shediac!
The Town of Shediac is pleased to announce that the Breaux Bridge Street Extension Project is now complete, and this important road is now open.
This new connection now links the Chesley Street round-about to Ohio Road, while also providing direct access to Bonaventure and Germaine streets. The project will help improve traffic flow and make travel more convenient in this growing area of our community.
While a few minor finishing works are scheduled for next week and may cause occasional slowdowns, the project is essentially complete.
Thank you to residents, motorists, and local businesses for their patience and cooperation throughout this major infrastructure project.
Main Street – King Street to South Cove Road
The work includes replacing storm and sanitary sewer systems, drinking water mains, and a major culvert located near Boulangerie Légère.
The project also includes the reconstruction of South Cove Road from Main Street to Greenwood Drive. Finally, a new paved path will be built along South Cove Road and will connect to the existing path.

New sidewalk and installation of water pipes on Breaux Bridge Street
Construction of a new sidewalk on Breaux Bridge Street, extending from Christian Court to Laforge Street, as well as the installation of a drinking water main between Rachel Street and Caissie Street.
The project also includes the construction of a crosswalk across Breaux Bridge Street at the intersection of Caissie Street and Christian Court.
Trunk Sewer Project
Construction of a new main sewer line approximately 4.7 km long, connecting the GSSC/CESB lagoons on Cap-Brûlé Road to Route 15.
This new sewer line will increase the capacity of the sewer system in the eastern part of the municipality and support future development.
The alignment of the collector will follow private sewer easements, Main Street, Ohio Road, and the municipal trail (from Ohio Road to Route 15).
All areas disturbed by the work, such as lawns, asphalt, sidewalks, trails, etc., will be restored to a condition equal to or better than that existing prior to the installation of the main collector.
Updates
The final phase of the Main Street reconstruction project for the section between Foch Bridge and Chesley Street, including Dock Street, is scheduled to begin on May 13, 2024, and continue until the end of November 2024. At a construction cost of approximately $9.1 million, the project aims to modernize and upgrade the water supply, sanitary sewer, and stormwater infrastructure along Main Street, benefiting Shediac residents. Additionally, asphalt, curbs, sidewalks, and property are included in the project scope.
Throughout the duration of the project, traffic management will be diligently overseen by a dedicated traffic control division. Two-way traffic flow will be maintained on Main Street, ensuring minimal disruption to the daily commutes of residents and businesses. However, Dock Street will remain closed to through traffic for the duration of the construction.

Given the size and scope of the work, challenges may arise, and residents should anticipate some traffic delays even with two-way traffic as Main Street does become congested in peak season even with no construction. Residents are strongly advised to plan for additional travel time accordingly.
It is important to note that throughout the project duration, businesses in the area will remain accessible to patrons.
Residents will retain access to their driveways for parking purposes on a daily basis. However, in instances where work is immediately in front of a property, designated temporary parking areas will be assigned for affected residents on those days.

Phase 1 of the Breaux Bridge Street extension and Bellevue Heights reconstruction project has been ongoing since May 17, 2024, and will be active until the end of October 2024. This construction project will include Bellevue Heights from Main Street to civic address #125. In addition, work will also be carried out to extend Breaux Bridge Street, from where it currently ends near LaForest Street to Bellevue Heights .

The scope of the project includes the extension of Breaux Bridge, construction of a roundabout at Breaux Bridge and Bellevue Heights and street reconstruction of Bellevue Heights. Related work includes the extension and replacement of watermains, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, road reconstruction, installation of a temporary access road, asphalt paving, curb and gutter, sidewalks, multi-use pathways, and restoration of affected areas.
Residents should expect occasional lane reductions on Main Street at the intersection of Bellevue Heights when work is being carried out. Two-way traffic flow will be maintained on Main Street. Every effort will be made to maintain access for residents and businesses.
To avoid having to travel through the construction zone, a temporary access road will be constructed between Bellevue Heights and the current end of Breaux Bridge.
Residents of Bellevue Heights will retain access to their driveways for parking purposes. However, when work will be done directly in front of a property, designated temporary parking areas will be assigned for affected residents on those days.
